Re: Does anyone know about networking?

Impressive so far. However, please ensure you can get this working with version 1.31 before testing this with other people (like Tggtt and myself). Not having the ability to save and reload multiplayer saves will be painful. Also, I'm sure the original documentation says that multiplayer games with ...

Re: Does anyone know about networking?

Tggtt and I did have success with Deadlock II multiplayer games using TCP/IP and Hamachi, so that will probably work here for testing with other players too.

Maybe it would be possible to add play over the internet directly? Still, that might be a bit too difficult.

Re: Does anyone know about networking?

And maybe also focus on using Tggtt's patched GOG.com version with restored multiplayer support (at least where NetBIOs is supported) as a basis, as this will work best for modern OSes once multiplayer support is hopefully restored. The patch is here: http://forum.galliusiv.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3...

I've read that UDP sockets can be unreliable though.
UDP isn't designed to be completely reliable, it's mainly design for speed. TCP would be essential for any sort of reliability.

Re: Does anyone know about networking?

Maybe if you encapsulated the library calls in the DLNET32.DLL it would be possible to pass the IPX commands through to TCP/IP ones, similar to what you did with the WAIL32.DLL. I don't know much about network programming, I only did it at a very basic level in my Computer Science degree. But maybe ...

Re: Siege Cruisers

Their purpose seems to be to fire missiles at territories who are out or range from your territories when firing regular missiles from them.

Sounds like a bug then, if enemy mines exist in your territory.

Re: Units destroy everything!

Once you take over a territory and they remain enemy mines, can you not click on the mine icon in the world view to blow them away?

Re: Character Animations

They are actually two completely different games as far as I can tell. I don't even think that they are built off of the same engine. They should have just improved on the original and added on a campaign. Matthew Ford confirmed to me when I met him that Deadlock II was based on Deadlock I's source...

Re: Which race is your favourite?

I find the ChCh't's tech penalty a massive pain. The lower level techs take too long to research, as it is not necessarily possible to have multiple labs running to research each of the first and second level techs in one turn. I also like to have five Collective Tech Labs running at full production...
