Re: Deadlock's Soundtrack

Hello Firetron, Were you the chap that emailed me in December? Sorry for not getting back to you, as I was away for Christmas at the time. I think Mac OS X’s built-in ZIP compressor that I used to make the archive over a decade ago might be the culprit, as I think it might have done some non-standar...

Deadlock and ChatGPT

I had some fun asking ChatGPT about various Deadlock things and here were some of the results I got. Asking it about OpenDeadlock: As of my knowledge cutoff date in September 2021, there is no project or software specifically called "OpenDeadlock." However, there is a possibility that you ...

Re: Steam Deck Compatibility

Deadlock II works okay under WINE if you use version 1.0 that came with the original retail CD, later versions have the issue you mentioned.

I've met with Chip, he only has the six tracks he sent me in 2011. The others exist in mono only, 16-bit 22050Hz, from the Power Mac version.

Gallius IV Main Site Back Online with 10th Anniversary Article

The Gallius IV main site at http://www.galliusiv.com is finally back online, my web host got bought out and the new host made changes without notifying me that broke the site. In addition, I have posted a special article for Gallius IV's 10th anniversary, discussing a special Deadlock adventure I ha...

Re: Does anyone know about networking?

Impressive so far. However, please ensure you can get this working with version 1.31 before testing this with other people (like Tggtt and myself). Not having the ability to save and reload multiplayer saves will be painful. Also, I'm sure the original documentation says that multiplayer games with ...

Re: Does anyone know about networking?

Tggtt and I did have success with Deadlock II multiplayer games using TCP/IP and Hamachi, so that will probably work here for testing with other players too.

Maybe it would be possible to add play over the internet directly? Still, that might be a bit too difficult.

Re: Does anyone know about networking?

And maybe also focus on using Tggtt's patched GOG.com version with restored multiplayer support (at least where NetBIOs is supported) as a basis, as this will work best for modern OSes once multiplayer support is hopefully restored. The patch is here: http://forum.galliusiv.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&...

UDP isn't designed to be completely reliable, it's mainly design for speed. TCP would be essential for any sort of reliability.
