Re: Deadlock - Official 20th Anniversary Topic

If I recall correctly, Deadlock: Planetary Conquest was the second turn-based strategy game I ever played, behind Civilization II. I spent many hours playing both. At the time, having experienced many less PC games and TBS games, I enjoyed them both quite a bit, but looking back today I hold Deadloc...

Re: Groundbreaking!! Now I have my own farm

So its possible to view all of the internal graphics now? I'm curious if any unused structures, units or tech graphics might be hidden in there. Hope you post what you find! :D

Re: Deadlock 1 strategy

Hi Nmid, I don't have exact numbers, but if I recall correctly population growth is influenced by: -Available housing (the bigger the gap between population and housing limit, the faster it grows) -The terrain type (From fastest to slowest (DL1): Plains, Forests, Swamps, Mountains) It wouldn't surpr...

Re: Win: Deadlock 1 Partial Audio Fix

I had the same thought earlier and experimented with creating a Deadlock CD image with only the bare required essentials to satisfy the CD check, and then adding only the desired assets to the game folder; as you noticed, the game first checks for assets locally - not just sounds, but even all the S...

Re: Win: Deadlock 1 Partial Audio Fix

I just ticked "Disable Visual Themes" in the compatibility settings and the save and load dialog boxes came back. This works. Oh man! I thought that it was working at one point and found it strange that it suddenly didn't, but I dismissed it as a mix-up with running the game normally. But...

Re: Win: Deadlock 1 Partial Audio Fix

I got a response from the seller indicating that they never had any complaints with compat issues on past sales of Deadlock, but he noted that they hadn't sold any copies of it for some time now and he temporarily pulled the listing to run some tests with it for a day or two. I asked him to let me k...

Re: help deadlock game

I feel it fair to note that the game currently has some unresolved compatibility issues with various recent versions of Windows (XP, Vista, W7, no doubt W8 too), so you might want to consider that before you pick up a copy, unless you're happy playing with speech only (no sound/music).

Re: The Deadlock 1 music

These are the original music files included with the Mac version, unconverted. Thank you. These were nice to listen to, especially the Uva Mosk music which I think took a relatively severe hit at the low quality level it saw in the Windows release. I'm not familiar enough with halfish of the other ...

Re: The Deadlock 1 music

Ubergeneral, does that mean the Mac version had high quality copies of the rest of the game music? In the Windows version everything except the title tracks are only 11,025 kHz Mono, as opposed to the nice quality of 22,050 kHz Stereo of the title tracks. If the Mac version had the other audio track...
