Fix for black screen on Windows 8/Windows 10 for Deadlock II

Post by zombipuppy »

Greetings all!

Hope to bring you guys and gals some good news: a GoG.com user has developed a fix for Deadlock to run on modern Windows machines. Just copy the ddraw.dll from the download link below into the Deadlock II folder, and you're good to go!

https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/releases

Here's the original GoG thread:

Cheers!

Hello zombipuppy,

Do you confirm if this solution works for Windows 10?

Please answer here.

Thanks.

Yup! Works absolutely perfectly on my 64 bit Windows 10 machine now :).

I'll let the other thread know.

hello, as i mentioned in another thread, a friend of mine had issues with windows 10.
we tried together what explained above, but it seems it had no effect whatsoever.
chances are 2:
1) it fixes a different problem than one of my friend (graphic glitches for the multiplayer IP mask input)
2) my friend had an aattack of dumbness and made some mistake somewhere so that it didn't work

Oh I get was TD is mentioning.

When you try to join a IP network game, a dialog pops up asking the IP address.

If we could just patch the DL2 executable to default it to broadcast address, it wouldn't appear and it would be enough for hamachi/LAN games.

However, I don't think it would work easily. Perhaps he could just try to work around this dialog because once the screen is redrawn for the game start it should stop glitching.
