Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters

Post by Ubergeneral Grunt »

Thought I'd post about this since I played through it twice in the past month (once on the 3do and then the HD update). This is another game published by Accolade, back in 1992. It is a space adventure (with strategy and action elements) game. The humour I would say is reminiscent of Deadlock in many ways. It's tremendous fun with a grand story. I'm not sure how best to describe it, but I'd say if you like Deadlock, it is well worth checking out (especially since it is now available for free!).

The open source version of the game that works on all modern operating systems is available here:
http://sc2.sourceforge.net

An updated HD version is available here (only 0.7.0 supports HD currently), I'd recommend this version:

It is quite a long game, it normally takes me 12 hours to replay the game (so the exact opposite of Deadlock), even when I know what I am doing.
Tarth cooks make best strudel, barbecue, bean dip, fish, cat food, smelt, piston rings, tofu and cam shafts...
