updating Deadlock II to v2.0 results in blackscreen

Hello everyone,
I have a little problem regarding Deadlock II. My deadlock II was still at version 1.0, but I wanted to be able to use the sweet sweet customization tool. I looked up how to get it, the answer seemed simple: upgrading your game to version 2.0. When I installed it (I downloaded the file from the Gallius IV website), the game started as usual: cutscenes, DL2 logo etc. However, when I arrived at the home screen and moved my cursor around, the screen went black and I had to reinstall my game. Is there any way to stop this from happening.
P.S.
I run deadlock II on a windows 10 64-bit laptop. And it's not on GoG. I use a cd-rom.
